I’m Dean.

I live beside the sea in Gqeberha, South Africa. My writing is shaped by years in church ministry, the ache of burnout, the beauty of fatherhood, and the slow work of finding faith again after certainty has fallen apart.

I look for God in quieter places now. Around kitchen tables. On early morning roads. In grief and laughter. In the ordinary moments that usually go unnoticed.

Through poetry, prayer, memoir, and reflective writing, I make work for people who feel in between. Those who have left one world but have not yet reached the next. Those trying to hear the person beneath the roles.

I am interested in things that are true before they are polished. In faith that can make room for questions. In tenderness that survives hardness. In men who are learning that strength can hold something gently.

My first four books were made possible by readers who gave through a BackaBuddy campaign. That kindness became paper and ink. I am still grateful.

There are four more books on my desk now. Each one is another way of asking how we might live with a little more attention, honesty, and room for each other.
